A great take a Vampyre tale! The dual perspective and time jumps aren't confusing and it just adds to what already is a well paced story!
Saying that there isn't a great deal of background world building going on which I found unusual for the first book of a series and sometimes wished we'd been given a bit more information. Hopefully this is something that will develop over the series
Overall, this is a promising start to this new series! The book will keep your attention and reignite your love of vampire stories post Twilight

Review
If you are generally feeling low at the moment then this book is not one for you. It is not a "it'll turn out all right in the end" kind of story!
It has a breakneck pace with plenty of action but not much background filler! So if you love an action packed story then this is for you
I felt it was a tell it like it is kind of story. It didn't give you hope when there was none to be found and as weird as it sounds it was refreshingly dark which is something unusual for a YA book
I'd recommend this book if you are looking for an edgier read than the genre usually offers
and as usual it has an amazing cover!!

The human body can only handle so much stress. Ariel knew how this went. If she stopped, she wouldn’t be able to start again. She’d crash, and then she’d be at the mercy of anyone or anything that came along. Despite the danger of stopping, she found her steps slowing. It wasn’t, however, the exhausted halt she battled with every step, nor the jagged, stumbling, end-of-the-line finish she yearned for. It was a graceful, taut arrest of movement, up on the balls of her feet, body quivering, nerves screaming.The mech shed was in sight, a shade beyond comfortable sprinting distance, dead ahead. She was out in the open, visible from every angle. Flat land stretched around her, rising to bluffs ahead and to her left. She turned, poised and scanning, all exhaustion forgotten.

She bent her knees as they thundered her way, all the while thinking, What, are you going to wrestle them? There was nothing on the planet of Forsaken fiercer than a mother looking out for her cubs. They ran past her.
They ran right past, giving her a wide berth. She felt the mother’s eyes flick over her, dismiss her, then urge her cubs on with a spine-ruffling grunt.
Ariel straightened slowly, staring after them. They were running away from something.

This book is a book I will remember for quite some time.
From the first page the author captures my attention with her ability to build a character physically in my mind. Not just that she made me feel Sky's range of emotions at having to let Nick go.
When the officer comes to tell her what is probably some of the worst news a person can receive I couldn't help by cry
Reading how Sky tries to rebuild their life together and how Nick has to relearn how to live with not just his physical injuries but his mental ones to is really harrowing in places
I marvelled at Sky's tenacity and cried at the injustice of it all and this is down to the authors skill as a story teller.
I recommend this book wholeheartedly and if you are interested to know more then check out Claire's website where you can learn more about her and her work with The Poppy Garden Appeal; a charity established to fund a recuperation centre for service personnel and their families

How does it feel to publish the 9th installment of the Collapse Series – and your 16th overall?
It feels unreal! When I was a kid, I always pictured myself as an author, sharing my stories with readers, but I admit I didn’t really think that would materialize until I was much older than I am right now. I’ve been really blessed – and I’ve worked really hard!

What’s a typical day in your life like?
I do manage a business, so while I do a lot more than simply write manuscripts, writing certainly is the base of everything that I engage in. I just got a German Shepherd puppy named Kona, and she gets me up early in the morning (earlier than usual, haha!), and I’ll start work then. If I have a good day, I’ll be done with work around 2:30 or 3. If it’s a long day, I’ll be working until 6.

I just got a German Shepherd puppy named Kona, and she gets me up early in the morning (earlier than usual, haha!), and I’ll start work then. What is State of Hope going to be like – and is it the last book in the series?
State of Hope is going to be long, intense and flushed with adrenaline. There are so many secrets to be revealed, so many character plots to be tied up neatly, and most importantly: Cassidy’s conclusion in this apocalyptic war. While Hope is indeed the final installment in the Collapse Series, it is not the last book in the Collapse universe. I certainly do have some plans for Cassidy in the future – they may not be as huge as Collapse, but trust me: I have plans.
State of Hope is going to be long, intense and flushed with adrenaline. It’s also tempting to snack on junk food working in an office (am I right?). I try hard to indulge only with healthy snacks: I have celery sticks and apples in the fridge, I like cheese, and any gluten-free cracker in combination. I also just discovered baked parmesan crisps. Oh, my heart!

As the synopsis suggests if you are looking for a travel guide then this one isn't for you! This is one mans journey and what he thought of it!
It's definitely a unique read with part journal entries and part stories of the authors experiences and I like the way this book was set out.
The author has witty style and he keeps it light which helps you drift off with him to the most beautiful places and live vicariously though his stories
This book is definitely for the person who loves to travel or just for someone who wants to ignite some wanderlust without leaving the comfort of the sofa

The synopsis of this story doesn't really give you a lot to go on apart from the obvious that Cara's boyfriend is dead! This intrigued me and I was keen to get reading!
The pace was good and although at times I was frustrated that the story could've had a bit more depth and development in places it did keep me turning the pages. I felt that at the start it was difficult to really get on board with the heroine of the story as to be honest she wasn't really my cup of tea but if you're like me don't let it put you off.
I feel this book is only the start of the story as it definitely sets itself up for a sequel as there feels like a lot of unanswered questions at the end either that or you could totally let your imagination run wild with what happens next

So Echo Campaign picks up from where Omen Operation finishes and right from the start the author expertly pulls you straight back into the story. You do need to read these books in series I wouldn't suggest this book as a standalone.
The pace of this book will leave you breathless it is so fast but I for one love a book like that especially one that is as full speed as this one.
I love the way the author cleverly switches from one point of view to another throughout and think this is something that can go so wrong in a story if it makes it hard to keep up but the author really is talented at making sure you know where you are.
All in all I really enjoyed this book as I did the first and can't wait for the next instalment especially with the introduction of new faces this time round

A humorous and witty account of life during the Depression, this book takes you on a tour of a young woman's challenge to earn a living in an ever worsening economy.
Well written and enticing, this book hooks you from the start and keeps you engaged throughout the story. Furthermore, the narration is well paced with good intonation and the production is of high quality meaning that it is easy to listen to and great for the daily commute.
The book begins with Betty leaving behind her married life on a farm to return to her family's home where she is encouraged by her sister to seek employment in the clerical field, which she is in no way qualified for, and follows her journey from job to job whilst finding herself in all manner of unfortunate circumstances.
This is the second book of Betty MacDonald, narrated by Heather Henderson, that I have listened to and I have found both to be fantastic - I will definitely be buying the remaining books in the series!

Betty Bard MacDonald (1907–1958), the best-selling author of The Egg and I and the classic Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle children’s books, burst onto the literary scene shortly after the end of World War II. Readers embraced her memoir of her years as a young bride operating a chicken ranch on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, andThe Egg and I sold its first million copies in less than a year. The public was drawn to MacDonald’s vivacity, her offbeat humor, and her irreverent take on life. In 1947, the book was made into a movie starring Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert, and spawned a series of films featuring MacDonald’s Ma and Pa Kettle characters.
MacDonald followed up the success of The Egg and I with the creation of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, a magical woman who cures children of their bad habits, and with three additional memoirs: The Plague and I (chronicling her time in a tuberculosis sanitarium just outside Seattle), Anybody Can Do Anything (recounting her madcap attempts to find work during the Great Depression), and Onions in the Stew (about her life raising two teenage daughters on Vashon Island).

Heather Henderson is a voice actress and audiobook narrator with a 20-year career in literary and performing arts. Her narrations include the NYT bestseller (now also a feature film) Brain on Fire; and Sharon Creech’s The Boy on the Porch, which won her an Earphones award and was named one of the Best Children’s Audiobooks for 2013 by Audiofile Magazine. She earned her Doctor of Fine Arts degree at the Yale School of Drama, and is co-curator of AudioEloquence.com, a pronunciation research site for the audiobook industry. In 2015, Heather was a finalist for a Voice Arts Award (Outstanding Narration, Audiobook Classics), for her narration of Betty MacDonald’s The Egg and I.
